Ranch Laughs

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming and the sinuses are congested. Anyone else suffer from allergies that really kinda put the damper on the wonderfulness that is “spring”?

Regardless of your current hay fever status, there’s much to enjoy this season. This is my first spring in the mountains of southern California, and the green, rolling hills are absolutely gorgeous. We’re still regularly lighting a fire in the wood stove at night, which means that we’ve been burning wood for six months straight. Not exactly what I pictured when my husband said, “Let’s move to SoCal” but here we are.

I’ve been able to sneak in a bit of work on my new book. It’s a sequel to my debut memoir, Never Burn Your Moving Boxes. No promises on when the first draft will be done, but know that the story is percolating in my mind throughout each day. Sometimes I even manage a few minutes at my desk to percolate the story onto the page, which is a much more useful form for it to take.

I’m launching a weekly comedy series called Ranch Laughs. That description probably sounds fancier than what it actually is – me standing in a cow pasture telling jokes.

Look for Ranch Laughs each week on my social media platforms. Every Thursday, I’ll post a 2 1/2 minute video of standup-style comedy. It’ll be the same jokes I tell onstage, except I’ll be standing in a cow pasture. You can stand (or sit) wherever you want, as long as there’s Wi-Fi. Follow or subscribe to my YouTube, Facebook, or Instagram pages to stay in the loop.

Here’s the latest short.
