Hey and it’s been a minute! I’ve already broken my previous declaration of posting a new blog on the 1st and 15th of every month, and I think we all realized that perhaps that isn’t going to actually happen. I also realize exactly nobody has been checking their email on the 1st and the 15th of every month, then biting their nails when no new blog appeared. I basically had to make this public declaration to absolve myself of feeling guilty for setting the bar too high then failing to reach it. Type A personality and all that.
So, here’s what I have going on lately: My husband, Jim, is camped out in the wilderness catching wild cattle. So that’s pretty typical. The older two kids are in school (no more homeschool – more on that later), the youngest kid starts preschool on Friday (!!), and I’m plugging away figuring out how to run a YouTube channel. Oh, and I’m also working my way through the first round of edits on my book. Oh, and Thanksgiving is next week, followed by Christmas two days later. Or so it seems, right?
We’ve got a lot going on like always, but here’s one of my favorites from last week: Friday Night Movie Night with my kids. We piled the couch cushions on the floor and ate pizza, popcorn, cupcakes and soda pop and watched Will Ferrell’s classic Christmas movie Elf. How about Ferrell’s costume – tonsils hanging out much?? Ten million points to him for having the cahonies (ahem) to wear that getup in public and allowing cameras to record the experience.
Oh – and here’s where you can read my work. Here’s the October blog in Western Horseman, the one about the ranch life advice column. They haven’t posted the November one yet, but check back later and I’ll post a link. Here’s my latest video on YouTube.
If you’re wondering if I felt silly wearing my fancy belt and full makeup, standing in front of the dining room curtains talking to a camera, the answer is yes, yes, I did. But I’m determined to get better at live performances, so I’ll be posting another video next week. And the week after, and the week after, because practice makes perfect and all that.
That’s all for now. Thanks for reading and have an amazing Wednesday!
What a nice surprise to read your blog early today. It’s in the 30’s here in Louisiana this morning and I’m trying to get motivated to go help my husband rework some barbwire fences. Uggg… anyway, sounds like your life is falling in the right steps. Look forward to next months post. Have a blessed thanksgiving from The Broke4
